O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
