But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ. Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
