I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
