A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
