Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent. Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.
