Who can say, “I have made my heart pure; I am clean from my sin”? Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
