In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’ For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me even, as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” (1John 4:9; Heb 10:4-7; John 6:38; Mat 20:28; Rom 15:3)
